What’s it going to take?
It’s occurred to me that this mighty powerful question is in need of a reframe.
What’s it going to take?
We usually use that phrase in dire circumstances. What’s it going to take for you to wake up? What’s it going to take for me to quit the addictive behavior? What’s it going to take for them to finally realize? We pull out the question for obvious urgencies.
Yet… life is urgent in the most sublime way. It’s a quiet pulsating call from the cave of the heart. Come, LIVE-LOVE FULLY… NOW!
What’s it going to take? … to approach our personal and collective healing with urgency?
What if UNIFICATION amongst us all was considered urgent? Not Black Friday sales or getting home in time for the season finale. But doing what we can to reconcile NOW TODAY while supplies last!
What if nourishing our nervous system was the urgent matter? I’ve GOT to meet my dancing quota! I’m going to clear my calendar so I can rest all day today (sounds simple but think about how radical that is for most of us). It’s imperative that I go sit amongst trees, that I meander, that I wake up early tomorrow and think about who I need to forgive.
What’s it going to take? … to heal the rifts and relieve our minds or the burdens of grievance we’ve been hauling around for a ridiculous amount of time?
What’s it going to take? … to ask them for tea and say I’m so sorry? To let go of the heaps of stuff or the soul sucking jobs and take our ambitions down a notch so we can… relax. So we can retreat or engage more—whatever our heart is guiding us to do.
Will it take a health scare, or a blind-siding break up, or waves of anxiety or, say, a pandemic for us to unify the fragmented parts of ourselves and our frayed or fractured relationships?
What if where we’re at today is all it took to choose to LIVE-LOVE FULLY…NOW?
So here’s the gentle approach to the urgency of life within: close your eyes, take a few breaths, and envision a kind life for yourself and everyone you’ve ever been connected to. And then, with curiosity and enthusiasm (no judgment or superficial motivational BS), ask yourself What it’s going to take to build that kind life for yourself and all the others.
And then maybe consider that we don’t need anymore wake up calls to choose to live-love fully now.
