We do count-downs. And we imagine stuff in great detail. We lay out special outfits. We cheer. We get excited about so much so often vastly because there is an eight year old at the center of my “we”. He is four feet of PURE VITALITY. He is LIFETASTIC. And life is always scoping for reasons to party.

I used to use “being present” as a reason to not get crazy excited about too much too far in advance. “I’ll be excited when I get there.” “I’ll be excited when the check clears.” “I’ll party when I’m done.”

Man, did I rob myself of so much good, pure energy. I’m sure my coolness had something to do with a few opportunities slipping away.

Me and excitement? We’re like THIS now. I’ve got enthusiasm on speed dial. My hopes are UPWARD. Disappointments happen — all the time. But…

more excitement, more often = way more to be excited about.

What’s your relationship to excitement?

With Love,
