So when Oprah invites you to brunch…you get there. I’m thrilled (an understatement) to announce that I’m alongside some really incredible change-makers on Oprah’s first ever SuperSoul100 List. My respect runs deep for some of these folks, like Lin Manuel-Miranda, Arianna Huffington, India Arie, Jesse Williams, Blake Mycoskie of Toms’ Shoes, Common, Brené Brown, Liz Gilbert, Ava DuVernay, Tony Robbins…and so many sweet friends.

Remember the mavericks. When you’re using your own platforms (and we all have platforms now) to talk about #blacklivesmatter or women’s rights, or how to be a more conscious partner or parent, or loving human being, remember that so much of what you’ve been taught came down from someone before you who did the work and was willing to put themselves out there. There is a spiral of evolution that we are all riding on, and we each of us fuels each other to move upward. Consciousness has a history.
-
Change can happen from within the system or without — you have to choose where you will stand. Some of us break away from traditions and long-standing structures to invent something new on the outside. Some of us stay inside the game, the government, the jobs, the brokenness to be beacons of optimism or positive disruption for improvement. Neither place is better than the other, but it’s good to be clear on where you’re going to stand to do your work. And you have to stand where you feel strong and inspired. Do what works for you and you can do more work for the world.
-
The work is never done, and you never arrive — and it’s great relief to just face this fact. Accepting this gives you both patience and tenacity. And you will need heaps of both to create change.

Find your tribe and love them hard. We need each other, we need each other, we need each other. We need to find the community that nourishes us for two reasons. Obviously, we are stronger in numbers when we gather with like-minded souls. But, often, mostly, in the “real world” we are not always with our spirit kin. We work and play and vote and shop and lobby amongst all kinds of opinions and beliefs. We need our tribe for love fuel. Get seen, be understood, have some laughs with your people, and then go out and do your work in the world. Love in, Love out.
To your Super Soul,
