…and by that I mean…

Why else would you do it? Because I can tell you, if you do it only for the money, it neverrrrr works out in the long run. If you do it for your parents’ approval, you’ll still feel a bit lost at the end of the day. If you do it for the “association” or connection, it’ll just feed your imposter complex. Money, approval, association — those are each healthy components to pulling off good stuff, but only if they’re rooted in the true love of what you’re doing. First, integrity, then hustle.

No matter what you do in life, whether it’s truly noble or expedient BS, you’re going to sweat for it, you’re going to lose a few battles, get criticised, hit the wall.

There aren’t many shortcuts to greatness, so really, just #doitforthelove.

Here’s what Michael Franti’s mama said: (CLICK HERE for the song)

Do it for the love, not for the money

Not for the guns and not for the honeys

Do it ‘cause it makes you feel alive

Like the way we rockin’ on Saturday night

Do it for the love of it, do it for the smell of it

Do it for the joy and the taste and the hell of it

Do it ‘cause you love it and it makes no sense

Not yens or euros or dollars or cents

. . . . .
