TRILLIONS of gallons of water creating massive population upheaval in many parts of Texas. In Bangladesh, India and Nepal flooding has killed 1,200 people and affected 24 million. We need full spectrum support: from money, material resources to energetic support.

Today, we’re offering some esoteric tools to draw on. (At the end of this post we have suggested donation outlets.) In the coming days, Team D will be offering other ideas for pitching in. My skill set is consciousness refinement, my wheel house is Love, so I’m beginning here, from the inside. May it be of service.

A PRAYER

This invocation is from the Mennonite World Conference in response to the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami. Whatever your belief system, the energy of this covers all of the bases for sending love and care to the people who need it most right now. You can replace the terms “God” and “church” with “Higher Power” and “global community” if that feels more real for you.

Morning and evening are powerful times to pray, when our hearts tend to be softer. You could also use this as a grace before meals, or at the start of a group meeting. Please copy & paste this to print it out, or carry it on your devices.

God of healing and mercy, we come before you with our hearts filled with grief as we see the devastation.
We pray that your presence would be felt by those who are grieving, who are injured, who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
We pray for wisdom and safety for those who are responding to the people in need and the many challenges left in the wake of the event.
We pray for our church, that it may be a witness to your compassion and care for all who suffer.
God, you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. For this we give you thanks and ask that you hear our prayers for the people of Texas, Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.

A MANTRA

“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha” The Green Tara Mantra. Tara is a female Buddha known as the “mother of liberation”. This mantra is for compassion in action.

Reciting the mantra:
Softly recite this mantra 21 times. Do as many cycles of 21 as you wish. Don’t be overly concerned with getting the pronunciation right. Your intention is what matters. Intend for this mantra to bring healing to all beings affected by the disaster

Playing the mantra:
Play this on repeat as long as you like…through the night, softly in one room of your house; put it on in your home to keep playing when you leave; play it as you work. Mantras carry healing energies, we want to saturate our thoughts and airwaves with this harmonic medicine.

A MEDITATION

If you’re familiar with EFT work (Emotional Freedom Technique) my friends Jessica Ortner and Nick Ortner created these beautiful exercises:

• “Surrogate Tapping” a “surrogate” Tapping Meditation that you can do right now to send positive healing energy to those suffering, whether it be regarding big events like this, or for people in your life whom you’d like to help.

• “Stress About the World” a short Tapping script you can apply to any world issue that is concerning you.

Understandably, many of us are wanting to help but feel overwhelmed with where to start, and are questioning the most effective outlets. Here’s our best effort at summarizing organizations to channel your donations to. It was important that to us that this list be international in scope:

• The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian and development network. Donations to the IFRC go to immediate disaster situations. Donate to the IFRC here.

• If you would like to focus your giving to the state of Texas, you can donate directly via Red Cross here.

• If you’re able to include animal welfare in your generosity, please consider donating to The Humane Society of the United States here.

While the human and animal impact calls for immediate resources, we’ve got to look to the cause of these increasing disasters. Climate change is taking lives and landscapes in massive proportions. Here’s a collection of “10 High-Impact Environmental Charities with Integrity“.

Choose a charity that resonates with you and give them your support and attention. Listen in for ways to live more lightly on the land. Nature is begging us to make fast, respectful changes to how we consume and care for the earth…and each other.
