When my psychotherapists and energy workers would point me toward Shadow work, I wanted to bolt. I felt like I was constantly doing shadow work—confronting feelings of unworthiness. I was exasperated, “When does the self-critical analysis ever f*cking end?”

I can tell you when: When you (finally) love your wounds.

And that’s shadow work.

Going into the basement of your psyche to find your neuroses and obsessions and meet it all with compassion. Shadow work is the light work that transforms pain into insight and freedom. Healed.

Your woundness is a portal to your true power. Go into your darkness and you’re going to find a Light you haven’t known in this lifetime.

  • What’s one of your persistent fears?
  • How do you criticize yourself for having that fear?
  • For a moment, suspend the desire to change that fear.
  • With a warm, friendly tone, how would a friendly conversation with your fear go?
