Thoroughness (a poem for devotion)
I have expressed from my longing and obstacles
the balm of thoroughness,
rare as rose oil,
nothing cures like devotion.
I stroke it on wounds and desires
Self care is a divine responsibility
…and by that I mean…If you believe that you are a child of the universe, or a product of Love, and/or a global citizen, then it’s common sense that you care well for yourself. In fact, you’re honour bound to love yourself.
Your body knows before your mind does
The body just feels. It doesn’t have a filter of judgements or worry. Something happens and then wham-boom-woosh, INSTANT feeling. INSTANT. Hits your gut, makes you blush, hairs stand on end, heart races, flush.
Be Your Own Guru.
Final say? YOU. All you. No matter what. Your body knows. Your heart knows. Your mind will help you act on what you know.
Will there be times when you should have heeded external advice? Yep. Plenty of them. But your Soul had a plan. And nobody else knows your Soul’s plan. But you, oh guru.

One of my least favourite behaviours of mine is withholding love. I’m hugely proud to say that it rarely happens. (If you’re going to boast about anything, let it be your capacity for loving.) But it still happens. It’s a reservedness that creeps over my usually boundless heart. I tell myself that staying quiet will give me shelter (from what?*), but it isn’t shelter at all.
