I just moved the closing date of a major business deal for astrological reasons. Our lawyers had already dealt with a lot of back n’ forthing and a last minute twist/untwist. The finish line was in sight, but I was about to yank it. People might be understandably flummoxed. I could have made an excuse for the switch that sounded more, you know, biz legit….
One of my least favourite behaviours of mine is withholding love. I’m hugely proud to say that it rarely happens. (If you’re going to boast about anything, let it be your capacity for loving.) But it still happens. It’s a reservedness that creeps over my usually boundless heart. I tell myself that staying quiet will give me shelter (from what?*), but it isn’t shelter at all.
There is the pain you feel because it’s deep in your being, in real time, working on you. And there is the pain you feel when it’s ready to be released. Just when you thought you’d purged it all, your body lurches with one more hurl to make sure the toxins are good an’ gone. That last lurch can catch you off guard. Where did that come from?
I’m hanging with my shrink and he brings up some inner child stuff. My general response: “Really? Come on. You’re gonna pull the Inner Child card on me? That is SO 1994.” And then we laugh, hard, like we do, and he gives his best exaggerated Jew-Bu shrug, “Well, that’s when the wound happens, so it’s like, hard to get around.”
